Dark Skies
If star gazing is your thing you will be truly delighted by the dark skies above the site. Sitting by your campfire you may rediscover the feeling of belonging to the world around us, and of being at one with nature. As we are so remote we are blessed with exceptional scenes of the sky at night.

Walking

Overlooking the Brecon Beacons National Park and just off the famous Cambrian Way route, our walkers will be spoilt for choice.
A quick 15-minute walk will take you to the top of the Garn Wenn mountain where you are treated to fantastic 360-degree views stretching towards the Severn estuary, the Blorenge, the Skirid and the Sugar Loaf mountains. Sometimes you can even see the Malvern Hills on a clear day.
A walk over the mountains may be rewarded by a swift refreshment in the Goose & Cookoo Pub which is a quirky and well-known pub that has its share of walkers arrive for shelter and a well-earned rest.

History

Located at the gateway to the South Wales Valleys, partly within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape is a testament to the human endeavour of miners and ironworkers of the past. In 2000, UNESCO inscribed the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape as a World Heritage Site, for the part the area played as the world’s major producer of iron and coal in the 19th Century. Today you can see remains of all of the necessary elements needed for the iron and coal industry, including a coal mine, furnaces, quarries, railway systems, ironworkers’ cottages, churches, chapels, a school and a workmen’s hall. All set in a landscape that is favoured by walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers. Enjoy your visit – whenever you come!
